Good News

During the days of the great depression, the city of New York was hit extremely hard with over 25% unemployment. In the midst of all the fear and gloom there was an old man in New York that ran a road side sandwich shop. Each morning he would rise long before dawn preparing his sandwiches and drinks. He took great pride in his kiosk and made sure it always looked presentable. His business was nothing short of amazing because in the worst of times he was able to put both his sons through college. Amazing you might say! O, I forgot to tell you that this old gentleman was a little blind and little deaf, much to his advantage.

The advantage, of being a little blind and deaf was that he couldn't read the newspaper and had a hard time hearing the fear, worries and concerns of others. To him things were great, wonderful. If we will fix our minds daily with good news, positive reports it will make us a little blind and deaf to all the fears, gloom, negativity and failure around us. It will cause us to be focused on all the good, great and positive things around us. It was said of Winston Churchill that in the midst of WWII he would awaken each morning and lie in bed for thirty minutes and tell himself all the good news he could think of and then he would start his day!

God is not asking us to look at the seen things but at the unseen things.
