Emotional Control

People who fail in life are often those that give way to things that annoy them. They make sharp retorts, have mean comebacks and have irritated reactions. They are supersensitive, unhappy and go from one job to another because they cannot get along with people. They are always in some personality clash or personal-relation difficulty. They have ruined opportunities and perhaps even destroyed their future by displaying irritation that results from frustration more than any other reason.

A neurologist states that frustration is a predominate cause of many cases of clinical depression. "People become so frustrated that personality cannot stand the pressure and gives up." Doctors tell us that anger disturbs the rhythmic action of the small muscle fiber of the stomach and intestines.

To reverse this condition we must flush out the bad emotions from our minds; anger, fear, ill will, hate, etc. Begin to fill the mind with good thoughts that always lead to good emotions. Demonstrate kindness and see the good in others. Repeat to yourself daily, "Let not the sun go down on your wrath" (Ephesians 4:20). Soon, peace instead of disturbances will replace itself in your personality.

Consider asking God to guide you and show you His best as you follow this week's Action Steps:

  1. Take time right now and each morning this week to visualize, "God is for me". Really see God being for you and visualize how much God loves you! If you believe God is for you, who can be against you?

  2. Decide that you want emotional control.

  3. Practice peaceful thinking.

  4. Try to understand people objectively instead of letting them irritate you.

  5. Flush out the bad emotions in your mind before going to bed.
